Color Wars
For many, Color War is the highlight of the summer. Near the end of the summer the camp is divided into two teams to do battle and put campers
newly acquired skills to the test. The red and blue teams participate in a variety of competitions including sporting events, the Apache Relay,
a knowledge bowl and a dance-a-thon. In addition, teams must create and perform songs and skits throughout the competition. The teams also design and
create floats, scrapbooks and banners. All events are judged and points are awarded for success, participation and sportsmanship.
Color War has been held each year at Camp Kingsmont since 1967. Many of the banners created by the two teams each summer survive and are proudly
displayed at camp. An annual theme is selected by the senior staff and staff members serve as generals and captains for the teams. In 2009 the camp
was divided into the Red Scholars and the Blue Collars.
We have provided a picture of every banner we have in our possession and listed the generals and captains that we know of. Many are missing.
You are invited to fill in the missing information via the forum section (and soon you will be able to add comments on the Color Wars pages). Any and all
comments about your color war experience are appreciated.
Just find your year and write away.
