Optional Trips

In addition to the regular activities and the all-camp trips, campers may elect to participate in several optional trips. These
include white water rafting on the Deerfield River; trips to the local Mall to
purchase new clothes as their bodies slim down; “professional” paintball tournaments
at Camelot Paintball and horse back riding lessons.
The horse back riding lessons are conducted by licensed instructors just down the street from
Hampshire College at Muddy Brook Farm. The lessons are available during club time or after dinner before the evening activities.
. Campers learn safety and respect and to care for the horses. Appropriate safety equipment is provided including riding helmets. Campers learn to
ride at a variety of levels from walking to cantering to fence jumping. Open trail rides are available.
Moxie Outdoor Adventures
White water rafting is conducted by the professionals
at Moxie Outdoor Adventures and is reached via independent bus transportation.
A picnic lunch is served mid-day.
Deerfield River & Zoar Gap
Camp Kingsmont will make at least three trips to the Deerfield River to shoot the Zoar Gap. The Deerfield River runs through the
foothills of the Berkshire Mountains and along the historic Mohawk Trail. The river is known for its excellent trout.
The ten mile trip features class I and II rapids such as the ‘Sideways Splash,’ the ‘Freight Train,’ and the ‘Pinball,’ and class III rapids
at the Zoar Gap. The guided trip also allows time for water fights and swimming during calmer stretches. The whitewater rafting trips have been
tentatively scheduled for July 2, July 21 and July 30. If there is sufficient demand, additional trips may be added. Please see
2010 Calendar under ‘Campers.’
Paintball Tournaments
Paintball tournaments will be held for interested Camp Kingsmont campers on an ultimate paintball playing field
at Camelot Paintball in nearby Chicopee. The paintball club offers quality
rental gear and starts every session with a detailed review of all safety rules. Referees play alongside campers and offer strategy
tips and pointers. Dates of the paintball tournaments will be based on camper demand.
